Guthrie's sketches get mocked up to refine the bluestone details

For this ground-up residential building in the NoHo historic district of Manhattan, bluestone was chosen again. This time, influenced by the beautiful stacks of stone in the quarry yard and also a desire to explore more custom carving and craftsmanship with our in-house team of masons.

A recurring theme of "Biophelia" creeps onto our facade from the built-in bluestone planters

The classical order of base, middle, top is expressed through variations of the bluestone detailing from large base stones that retain the drill marks from the quarry as a decorative motif, to the taught rectangular stone delicately carved to express window surrounds.

Interiors

From bluestone lobby to a private elevator that opens onto a palazzo-like interior with low wainscoting panels and Austrian herringbone white oak floor, a continuity through artisnal craft and architectural detailing, is woven throughout the still very modern residences.

A master-maker in sculptural moldings created 41 Bond and its neighboring landmarks in relief, and with this embossing stamp we were able to make highly crafted boxes around the book and marketing floorplans, emphasizing the importance played by craft in the design of this building.

The book consisted of layers, represented by changes in paper and size, that connect both to the beauty of stacked bluestone and the layers of the building design.
